Lengthen Curve Tool

What it Does

Extends an existing curve smoothly from either its starting or ending point by a specified length. To ensure the new extension naturally follows the established trajectory, the tool samples the final segment of the original curve to calculate its terminal direction and curvature, projecting the new polyline seamlessly along that path without distorting the original draft lines.

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Lengthen Curve icon
2. Click to select the line you want to lengthen
3. Select the end of the curve to extend:
4. Change at Start - Extend from the blue point
5. Change at End - Extend from the green point
6. Enter the Distance to extend.
7. Click Continue to see the revision before committing
8. Enter a descriptive name for the new extension.
9. Select a Style from the drop-down list
10. Click Save to apply the changes or Cancel to abort

The extension will remain separate from the original curve. It is a polyline and not technically a curve (it has no curve points that can be adjusted.)
