Import Memorized Draft

What it Does​

This option uses an exported memorized draft file to create a new draft, replicating its original tool usage steps and measurements.

How to Use​

  1. Select File > Import Memorized Draft off the main menu.
  2. Select the exported file on your local computer. (These are JSON files).
  3. Enter a name for the restored draft.
  4. If the exported draft used a measurement set, you will be prompted to select a measurement set to use for the import. The set does not have to be in the same unit as the imported draft; the program will make all conversions automatically.
  5. Select Continue to proceed or Cancel to stop.

If the Exported Draft Used a Measurement Set​

You’ll be presented with a large table titled Map Measurements. For the memorized draft to be restored, it must have a value for every measurement that was used in the original draft. This process will be used to map your exported measurements set to your imported measurements set. Only the measurements actually used in the draft have to be mapped, not the entire set.

The program will attempt to match the exported measurement name to the set you have chosen for import. If it finds a match, it will show the imported measurement name.

The Your Measurements column contains the value from your imported measurements with this name. Note that the value will be in the units of the set, regardless of the unit used on the draft being imported. Make sure you enter values in the chosen set unit.

You have several options at this point:

  1. You can accept the line as it is.
  2. You can select a different measurement from your import set by using the Set drop-down. The "Your Measurements" value will be updated.
  3. You can ignore the set completely and type your own value in the Your Measurements box. If you type in custom values, these will not affect the import or export measurement set in any way. When you are satisfied with the value, select Accept. The green checkmark to the left of the measurement name will turn grey. Continue in this manner through the entire list. When you are satisfied with all your entries and all checkmarks are grey, select Create Set`.

The draft will be restored and visible in the workspace.

You can Save Restored Draft or Cancel.

Special Items to Note​

When you Save Restored Draft, it is version 1 of the draft. There is no history created during the import.

  • This new draft is not memorized, so it can’t be exported as such.
  • This new draft has all normal drafting capabilities. You can continue to modify it as you would any other draft.
  • A custom measurement has been created to go with this import. You can see the name at the top of the toolbox. It is also available like any other set using the Measurements menu.
  • When a draft is restored, it will be set to the unit of the original imported draft.
