Add Alignment Marks Tool

What it Does

This tool generates alignment marks with optional numbers along straight lines or curves, allowing you to accurately match and align adjoining pattern pieces during garment construction. These differ from traditional notches since they can be color coordinated and numbered enabling easier layout. You can also automatically project these exact markers onto a matching seam line on a companion pattern piece.

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Add Alignment Marks icon.
2. Select a line or curve for the alignment markers.
3. The start and end points will be listed. Select the point to start measuring from on the list.
4. Enter the distance you want between the alignment markers.
5. Select a color/style for the markers.
6. Select Preview to see the markers.
7. Select Save to save the markers or Save & Match to add the same markers to another line or Cancel to abort.
8. If matching, select the corresponding line or curve on the adjacent pattern piece.
9. The start and end points will be listed. Select the point to start measuring from on the list.
10. Select Save to save all the markers Cancel to abort and remove all markers.

tip

Make sure you select the same point to measure from on adjoining pattern pieces and also the same distance between.
