Curve Truing Tool
What it Does
The Curve Truing tool takes the guesswork out of joining seams by letting you digitally "walk" your patterns before cutting your fabric. When two pattern pieces sew together (such as a front and back shoulder, a side seam, or a mirrored neckline) their connecting curves must flow into one another smoothly without creating awkward peaks or V-shapes. This tool temporarily isolates your selected curves and seam lines, aligns them vertical and end-to-end in a dedicated preview, and allows you to adjust the curve points directly. It is an indispensable diagnostic check that ensures your seams sew together with perfectly continuous, professional transitions every single time.
How to Use
- Activate the tool by clicking the
Curve Truingicon - Select the first curve you want to align
- Select the first seam line (the line connected to your first curve)
- Select the second curve to align. If you want to mirror a single curve (like a neckline), select the same curve as your first choice
- Select the second seam line (or the same seam line as the first if you are mirroring)
- Click anywhere in the workspace to place the preview
- A True Preview showing both curves perfectly aligned at their seam lines will appear
- Click and drag any of the green control points on either curve to reshape them
- Select Update to refresh the alignment preview
- Continue adjusting points until you achieve a smooth, continuous transition across the seam
- Click
