PatternMaker Pro Grading is Unique

Traditional pattern grading requires defining grading rules or increments, specific values in the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axes, for every point of adjustment. PatternMaker Pro eliminates the tediousness of this process by calculating the necessary movement for you.

Establish Base and Vector

Use this process with any of your previous drafts that were memorized. It doesn't matter what measurements were used to draft originally.

  1. Create a measurement set for two sizes within your desired size range.
  2. Select Memorized Draft > Import Draft and pick your memorized pattern to recall.
  3. Select one of your two size sets.
  4. Name the pattern based on the size (e.g., Small 8-10 Base).
  5. Select SVG > Export SVG and save this base pattern to your computer.
  6. Select Memorized Draft > Import Draft using the second size set as the vector pattern.
  7. Select the second size set you created.
  8. Name the pattern based on the size (e.g., Large 14-16 Vector).
  9. Select SVG > Import SVG and bring the previously saved base pattern draft (the Small in this case) into this vector draft.
tip

Your original drafts will not be used or modified during the grading process. The system will make copies of the geometry it needs for grading leaving the original intact.

The Process

Now, proceed using the following tools in order:

  1. Grading Size Table: Establish all the desired graded sizes in order, along with their individual color/style settings.
  2. Add Pattern for Grading: Define the outlines of the base and vector patterns.
  3. Add Point Pairs: Establish the link between a base point and a vector point, selecting all pairs that will move during grading. No values needed.
  4. Grade Patterns: PatternMaker Pro will perform all the necessary mathematical calculations and grade each pattern defined in the Grading Sizes Table.
🧠Memorization

Grading is not a memorizable process. Do not memorize the draft you are grading; it cannot be recalled in its graded state.
