Add Pattern Set for Grading Tool
What it Does
This tool creates a set of patterns for grading. For instance, you may have a top that contains one set for the bodice front, another for bodice back and yet another for the sleeve. These sets are created using your base and vector patterns, as well as the Grading Size Table.
Your original drafts will not be used or modified during the grading process. This tool copies only the geometry necessary for grading.
How to Use
- Activate the tool by clicking the
Add Pattern for Gradingicon. - Enter a name for this set of patterns.
Base Pattern Selection
Now you will designate the closed shape defining the base pattern. You are provided a layer visibility tree so you can show and hide layers as necessary.
- Select the lines and curves that comprise the closed shape of the base pattern.
- Select
Continuewhen done.
Vector Pattern Selection
Now you repeat the process for the vector pattern. Remember to hide your base pattern and make your vector pattern visible for selection (orange is hidden).
- Select
Continuewhen done orCancelto abort.
The base and vector patterns will be shown in the workspace with the style/color you designated for them in the Grading Size Table.
The intermediate patterns were also drafted, but they are currently the same size as the base pattern and shown directly on top of the base, so they aren't obvious.
Use the layer visibility tree to make selection easier.
Creating a new Grading Size Table will automatically remove all pattern sets.
