Link Image Tool

What it Does

Restores broken image links by reconnecting imported images to their original files on your computer. When you reopen a project, image links are automatically broken for security reasons, but all positioning and scaling data is preserved. This tool allows you to reconnect those images without losing any of your work.

🧠Memorization

Images and image layers are not memorized.

tip

Keep your reference images organized in a dedicated folder to make re-linking faster and easier across multiple projects.

How to Use

  1. Activate the tool by clicking the Link Image icon
  2. Select the broken image you want to re-link from the displayed tree of imported images
  3. Review the previous filename displayed in the dialog
  4. Click to open the file picker and locate the matching image file on your computer
  5. Select the correct image file (preferably with the same filename as shown)
  6. Click Save to restore the image link and display the image
  7. Click Close to cancel the re-linking process
info

The tool displays the original filename to help you locate the correct file. While you can select a different image, using the same file ensures consistent results.

warning

Re-linking with a different image file may affect scaling and positioning if the new image has different dimensions than the original.
