Scale Image Tool

What it Does

Establishes precise mathematical calibration between image pixels and real-world measurements by defining a reference rectangle with known dimensions. The tool calculates scaling factors for both width and height, ensuring accurate dimensional relationships for all subsequent measurements and tracing operations.

Images and image layers are not memorized.

tip

Make sure your image contains at least one reference rectangle with clear, straight edges and known measurements for the most accurate scaling results. Rulers, grid paper, or known pattern piece dimensions work excellently as reference standards.

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Scale Image icon
2. Select an image to scale from the displayed list of imported images
3. Click to place the top left point of your reference rectangle (click again to reposition if needed)
4. Click to place the top right point - this establishes the primary width distance
5. Click to place the bottom right point - this establishes the primary height distance
6. Click to place the bottom left point to complete the reference rectangle
7. Enter the actual real-world Width and Height values for your reference rectangle
8. Review the calculated scaling percentages shown for Width Scale and Height Scale
9. Adjust the Width Scale and/or Height Scale values manually if needed
10. Click Save to apply the scaling or Close to cancel the operation

The Drawn Width and Drawn Height boxes display the measurements of the points you created. These can be manually adjusted if needed for fine-tuning the reference rectangle dimensions.
