Add Layer Tool

What it Does

Creates new organizational layers within a hierarchical structure, allowing you to group related pattern elements and establish parent-child relationships that control visibility and modification behavior. Each layer can contain specific types of pattern components and inherit display properties from its parent layer.

Choose your parent layer carefully, The new layer will inherit visibility and organizational properties from its parent, creating logical groupings for efficient pattern management.

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Add Layer icon or pressing
2. Review the hierarchical tree displayed showing existing layers
3. Select a parent layer from the tree where your new layer should be positioned
4. Enter a descriptive name for the new layer
5. Choose your save option:
   • Save Create the layer and return to your previous tool
   • Save & Switch Create the layer and make it the active working layer Or click Cancel to abort the layer creation
