Align Layers Tool

What it Does

Automatically positions pattern pieces on different layers to achieve perfect edge alignment. The tool moves one complete layer to match reference points with another layer, ensuring seamless connections between pattern components.

warning

This process permanently modifies pattern positions. Create backup copies before alignment to preserve original arrangements.

How to Use

  1. Activate the tool by clicking the Align Layers Tool icon
  2. Using the hierarchical tree, select the layer that will stay in its current position
  3. Select the layer that will move to align
  4. Select the target point on the stationary layer
  5. Select the corresponding target point on the moving layer
  6. Select the end point connecting the target point on the stationary layer (where overlap will occur)
  7. Select the end point connecting the target point on the moving layer (where overlap will occur)
  8. The workspace will update with the alignment
  9. If overlap is needed, enter the overlap value as a number or formula
  10. If the overlap direction is incorrect, select Other Side
  11. Click Save to apply the alignment or Cancel to abort
info

The target points define the exact alignment location, while end points determine the direction and extent of any overlap.
