Mirror Layer Tool

What it Does

Creates a mathematically precise mirrored duplicate of an entire layer, including all contained elements such as points, lines, curves, and their relationships. The tool generates a complete reversed copy organized within a new layer, maintaining proper geometric relationships while providing optional offset control for spacing between original and mirrored elements.

info

The mirrored layer preserves all element relationships and maintains perfect symmetry, making it ideal for asymmetrical designs that require distinct left and right pattern pieces.

How to Use

  1. Activate the tool by clicking the Mirror Layer icon
  2. Select the layer to mirror from the hierarchical tree displayed
  3. Select a parent layer for the new mirror layer from the hierarchy
  4. Enter a descriptive name for the new mirror layer
  5. Enter a Find and Replace value to automatically rename the mirrored items or leave blank to append them with '_Copy'
  6. Select two points that will define the mirror axis line
  7. Enter an offset value (or leave as 0 for none) to control spacing from the mirror axis
  8. The offset value can be a numeric value or formula
  9. Click Save to create the mirrored layer or Cancel to abort
warning

The mirror operation duplicates all elements within the selected layer. Choose your mirror axis carefully as this determines the orientation of the reversed elements.
