Move Items to Layer Tool

What it Does

Transfers selected pattern elements from their current layer to a new destination layer without duplication. The moved items maintain all geometric properties and relationships while being removed from their original location.

info

Unlike copying, moving transfers elements completely. They will no longer exist on the original layer after the operation.

How to Use

  1. Activate the tool by clicking the Move Items to Layer Tool icon
  2. Select one or more items to move
  3. Choose your destination option:
    • Move to New Layer - Creates a new layer for the moved items
    • Move to Existing Layer - Places items on a layer you select

For Existing Layer Option:

  1. Select an existing layer from the hierarchical tree
  2. Choose your completion action:
    • Save - Move items and stay on current layer
    • Save & Switch - Move items and switch to destination layer

For New Layer Option:

  1. Enter a name for the new layer
  2. Select a parent layer for the new layer
  3. Choose your completion action:
    • Save - Create layer with moved items and stay on current layer
    • Save & Switch - Create layer with moved items and switch to new layer
warning

Moved items are permanently transferred from their original layer. Use copy operations if you need to preserve elements in multiple locations.
