Add Reference Line Tool

What it Does

Creates construction lines that extend from a starting point in specific directions with flexible length options. These reference lines help establish geometric relationships and provide visual guides for pattern development without affecting the final pattern structure.

tip

Reference lines are ideal for layer-based organization. Create them on construction layers that can be hidden when finalizing your pattern.

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Add Reference Line icon
2. Select the start point
3. Choose direction:
   • Horizontal: Creates perfectly horizontal line
   • Vertical: Creates perfectly vertical line
4. On Vector: Select second point to define direction
5. Select length option:
   • One direction: Extends from point in single direction
   • Both directions: Extends equally on both sides of point
6. Set distance: Specify exact length
7. Use Other Side button if line extends in wrong direction
8. Click Save to create the reference line or Cancel to abort
