Move Point Along Vector Tool

What it Does

Moves an existing point along a straight vector path defined by a second reference point. Unlike creating new points, this tool repositions your selected point while maintaining perfect alignment with the established directional line, preserving angular relationships in your pattern.

tip

The blue point is the point being moved, and the red point establishes the direction and vector path for movement. Distance is measured from the blue point's current location.

How to Use

  1. Activate the tool by clicking the Move Point Along Vector icon
  2. Select the point to move (will appear in blue)
  3. Select the reference point for direction/vector (will appear in red)
  4. Enter the distance value/formula to move the blue point:
  5. Positive values move the blue point away from the red point
  6. Negative values move the blue point toward the red point
  7. Click Preview to see the new position before committing
  8. Click Save to apply the movement or Cancel to abort
