Add Point at Intersection Tool
What it Does
Automatically calculates and creates points at the exact mathematical intersection of two selected elements. The tool analyzes the geometric relationship between lines and curves to find where they cross, providing precise reference points for pattern construction.
tip
The blue element is your first selection, and the red element is your second selection. All intersection points between these elements will be identified.
How to Use
- Activate the tool by clicking the
Add Point at Intersectionicon - Select the first element (line or curve) - will appear in blue
- Select the second element (line or curve) - will appear in red
- The tool automatically identifies all intersection points and displays them
- Choose your save option based on the number of intersections found:
- Multiple intersections: Enter name and choose
SaveorCancel - Single intersection: Choose from three save options (detailed below)
Savethe new pointSave & SplitRed saves the new point and splits the red lineSave & SplitBlue saves the new point and splits the blue line
- Multiple intersections: Enter name and choose
warning
Elements must actually intersect for the tool to function. Parallel or non-touching elements will not generate intersection points.
Memorization
If your draft is being memorized, avoid intersections that return more than one point. This can cause problems when the pattern is recalled.
