Add Placket Tool
What it Does
This tool automatically drafts a complete, production-ready tailored placket, including both the overlap and underlap components, matched precisely to your pattern’s slit opening. Whether drafting a classic tailored sleeve placket or a front neckline slash placket, this tool calculates all required fold lines, sewing baselines, peak geometry, and turn-under allowances from a single set of dimensional inputs
info
A new Placket Layer will be created within the active layer containing all the placket components.

Input Parameters
| Parameter | Description | Drafting Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Slit Length | The finished length of the slash cut on the garment body. | Determines the vertical depth of the finished opening along the sleeve wrist or center neckline slash. |
| Extension Length | The vertical height of the placket head extending above the apex of the slit. | Defines the finished decorative point, box, or peak that sits above the slash opening. Set to 0 for straight-across finishes. |
| Overlap Width | The finished visible width of the upper (outer/face) placket band. | Governs the visible front face of the placket where buttons, decorative topstitching, or edgestitching are positioned. |
| Underlap Width | The finished width of the narrow lower binding or concealed underlap band. | Typically drafted narrower than the overlap so the underlap remains tucked cleanly beneath the face band when closed. |
| Seam Allowance | The perimeter seam allowance applied to all attachment and turn-under edges. | Set to match your construction workflow. |
