Change Name Tool

What it Does

Replaces generic system-generated ids with custom, meaningful labels that appear on hover. This creates an intelligent identification system that provides instant context about any pattern element without adding visible text to your pattern workspace, maintaining clean visual design while enhancing workflow efficiency.

tip

Use descriptive names that communicate both function and context, like "Shoulder Point - Size 12" or "Back Armhole Curve" instead of generic system names like "Point_47" or "Curve_23".

How to Use

1. Activate the tool by clicking the Change Name icon
2. Click to select the pattern element you want to rename
3. Enter a new, descriptive name in the text field
4. Click Save to apply the new name or Cancel to abort the change

Choose names that will be meaningful to anyone working with the pattern. Avoid overly abbreviated or cryptic names that might confuse other users or yourself in the future.
